Urban Ballerina: A Concentration

My concentration explores the juxtaposition of classical ballet in urban settings – the urban ballerina. A juxtaposition of the grace and beauty of the ballerina and the cold functionality of the urban scene. Taking the image of the stereotypical ballerina, and putting it in a more urban setting to find the beauty in the rougher situations, and going against the stereotype that ballet and dance must be in a formal and pretentious realm; showing that they can have personality and spirit offstage.
